The Football League Third Division 1962/63 was the 36th season of the Football League Third Division as the third highest English football league . Third division champion was Northampton Town and also the second-placed Swindon Town rose in the Football League Second Division . For the two promoted teams in the following third division season 1963/64, the two second division clubs FC Walsall and Luton Town ranked in the table below . Bradford Park Avenue , Brighton & Hove Albion , Carlisle United and Halifax Town had to relegate from the Third Division to the Football League Fourth Division . Instead of these clubs, the fourth division champions FC Brentford and behind them Oldham Athletic , Crewe Alexandra and Mansfield Town took the vacant positions in the following season 1963/64 .
