EFL Championship 2016/17

The EFL League One 2016/17 was the 13th season of the English League One as the third highest English division behind the Premier League and the EFL Championship as well as the 25th season of the second highest division of the English Football League after the introduction of the Premier League in 1992. It started on August 6, 2016. The last game day was May 7, 2017. The two best-ranked clubs, Sheffield United and Bolton Wanderers , were promoted directly to the EFL Championship, the clubs in positions three to six played in the play-off -Mode for the third promotion place. Third-placed Millwall FC won the play-off final . Port Vale , Swindon Town , Coventry City and Chesterfield FC had to relegate .
