The Football League One 2015/16 was the twelfth season of the English Football League One as the third highest division behind the Premier League and the Football League Championship, as well as the 24th season of the second division of the Football League after the introduction of the Premier League in 1992. It started on August 8, 2015. The last game day was May 8, 2016. The two best-placed clubs, Wigan Athletic and Burton Albion , were promoted directly to the EFL Championship, the clubs in third to sixth played in the play-off -Mode for the third promotion place. The play-off final was won by sixth-placed Barnsley FC . Doncaster Rovers , Blackpool FC , Colchester United and Crewe Alexandra had to relegate .
