Gauriac is a French municipality with 748 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Gironde in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Blaye and is part of the canton of L'Estuaire (until 2015: canton of Bourg ). The inhabitants are called Gauriacais .

geography

Gauriac is located about 25 kilometers north-northeast of Bordeaux on the Gironde estuary of the Garonne . Part of the river island Île du Nord or Île Verte in the Garonne belongs to the municipality . Gauriac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Villeneuve in the north and north-west, Saint-Ciers-de-Canesse in the north and north-east, Comps in the east, Bayon-sur-Gironde in the south and south-east, Margaux-Cantenac in the south-west and Soussans in the west.
