Anglade is a municipality with 947 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the French department of Gironde in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine .

history

Rumor has it that Madame de Maintenon lived at Château La Barrière, which the ruins of the castle still bear witness to today . The place name was derived from "Anglais", the French word for "English".

economy

The approximately 800 villagers - they call themselves Angladais or Angladaises  - live for the most part from agriculture, which specializes in animal husbandry, vegetables, corn and wheat. Anglade is known for viticulture , benefiting from the chalky soil throughout the municipality .

There are also small industrial and service companies in Anglade.
