Saint-Genès-de-Blaye is a French municipality with 485 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Gironde in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Blaye and the canton L'Estuaire (until 2015: canton Blaye ). The inhabitants are called Saint-Genésois .

geography

Saint-Genès-de-Blaye is located on the Gironde ( Garonne ) estuary , about 36 kilometers north-north-west of Bordeaux . Saint-Genès-de-Blaye is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Fours in the north, Saint-Surin-de-Cursac in the east, Saint-Martin-Lacaussade in the south and southeast, Blaye in the south and on the other side of the estuary Saint-Julien- Beychevelle in the west. The northern part of the river island Île Nouvelle (also called Île Bouchaud ) in the estuary belongs to the municipality .
