The Canton of Blaye was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement Blaye in the Gironde in the region Aquitaine .

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the departments as part of what was then the Blaye district.

With the founding of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Blaye.

geography

The canton bordered the canton of Saint-Ciers-sur-Gironde in the north, the canton Saint-Savin in the west, the canton Bourg in the south and the canton Castelnau-de-Médoc in the Arrondissement of Bordeaux and the canton of Pauillac in the west in the Arrondissement of Lesparre-Médoc on the bordering side of the Gironde .
