The Canton of La Teste-de-Buch is a French canton in the Arrondissement Arcachon in the Gironde in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine .
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the departments as part of what was then the “Bordeaux District”.
With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of the then arrondissement of Bordeaux. Since January 1, 2007, the canton has been part of the newly created Arrondissement Arcachon .
With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the canton changed: it now consists of the municipality of Arcachon and the municipality of La Teste-de-Buch . The two municipalities of Le Teich and Gujan-Mestras belong with two other municipalities to the newly created canton of Gujan-Mestras .

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the three municipalities of Gujan-Mestras , La Teste-de-Buch and Le Teich belonged to the canton of La Teste-de-Buch . Its layout corresponded to an area of 321.27 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 3349.
