The canton of Arcachon was a canton in the arrondissement of Arcachon in the Gironde department in the Aquitaine region in France until 2015 .
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the departments as part of what was then the “Bordeaux District”.
With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of the then arrondissement of Bordeaux. Since January 1, 2007, the canton has been part of the newly created Arrondissement Arcachon .
As part of the reorganization of the French cantons in 2015, the canton was dissolved. The municipality of Arcachon was assigned to the canton of La Teste-de-Buch .

geography
The canton bordered in the north, west and east on the canton of Audenge on the opposite sides of the Bassin d'Arcachon and in the south on the canton of La Teste-de-Buch .
Communities
The only municipality in the canton was Arcachon with 10,476 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2013).
