The Arrondissement of Blaye is an administrative district in the department of Gironde in the French region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It consists of 5 cantons and 62 municipalities . The main town (seat of the sub-prefecture ) is Blaye .

history

On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Gironde department, a District de Blaye was also founded, which largely corresponded to today's arrondissement. On February 17, 1800, the arrondissement was founded from it. As part of an administrative reform, the canton of Saint-André-de-Cubzac moved on May 1, 2006 from the Arrondissement of Bordeaux to the Arrondissement of Blaye.
