The arrondissement Sarlat-la-Canéda is an administrative district in the Dordogne department in the French region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine .

history

On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Dordogne department, a District de Sarlat was also founded, although it was smaller than the current arrondissement. On February 17, 1800, the arrondissement Sarlat was founded from this and the extensions with parts of the former districts of Belvès and Montignac .

With the amalgamation of the municipalities of Sarlat and La Canéda on March 1, 1965, the arrondissement was also renamed Sarlat-la-Canéda.
