The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Sarlat-la-Canéda and the Vallée de l'Homme .

Saint-Chamassy is about 35 kilometers east of Bergerac and is bounded by the Vézère in the north and by the Dordogne in the west and southwest . Saint-Chamassy is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Limeuil in the north and north-west, Le Bugue in the north, Audrix in the east and north-east, Coux-et-Bigaroque-Mouzens in the south and south-east, Le Buisson-de-Cadouin in the south and Alles-sur- Dordogne to the west.
