Zinon Papakonstantinou

Zinon Papakonstantinou is a Greek ancient historian .

Life

He studied political science at the Paul Cézanne Aix-Marseille III University in 1993/1994 as an Erasmus student. He obtained the BA summa cum laude in Ancient and Medieval History at the University of Crete in July 1994. The Master with the master's thesis The spear-valiant hero. He obtained Theseus in early Classical Athens in Classical Antiquity from the University of Cincinnati in June 1997. He obtained the MPhil in Classical Studies from the University of Cambridge , Pembroke College in October 2002 as a Pembroke College Research Fellow. The PhD with dissertation Dancing Zeus. He acquired Leisure and Society in Archaic and Classical Greece in Ancient History at the University of Washington in August 2003. From 2003 to 2004 he taught at the University of Oregon as Visiting Assistant Professor of Ancient History and Classics. From 2004 to 2005 he was a lecturer in Ancient History at Cardiff University . From 2005 to 2007 he taught at Newcastle University as a lecturer in Ancient History. From January 2008 to June 2010 he was Visiting Assistant Professor of Hellenic Studies at the University of Washington. From June 2010 to June 2012 was at the University of Athens as a lecturer in Ancient History (tenure-track). Since August 2012 he has been teaching at the University of Illinois at Chicago as

  • Assistant Professor of Classics and History (2012-2015)
  • Associate Professor of Classics and History (2015-2017)
  • Associate Professor of Classics (since 2017)

As a Humboldt Research Fellow for experienced scientists at the University of Hamburg , he conducted research on the Cursing for Justice project . Magic and the Lawcourts in Classical Athens , monograph in preparation, for 14 months (summer 2013, 2014, 2015 and spring 2016).
