The University of Illinois at Chicago (also called UIC ) is a state university in Chicago in the US state of Illinois . With approximately 25,000 students, it is the largest college in Chicago and the second largest college in the University of Illinois system.

history

The origins go back to the founding of the Chicago Charitable Eye and Ear Infirmary in 1858 , the College of Pharmacy in 1859 and the College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1882. These institutions were combined in 1890 in the University of Illinois.
