In the 19th century, the place usually had well over 400 inhabitants. The phylloxera crisis in viticulture and the loss of jobs due to the mechanization of agriculture have led to a significant population decline since then.
economy
Up to the present day agriculture plays the biggest role in the economic life of the community: The viticulture that was formerly also practiced here was, however, completely abandoned after the phylloxera crisis; Tobacco and corn are also on the decline - instead walnut , chestnut and fruit trees dominate the region. Also foie gras ( foie gras ) and truffles are some of the culinary specialties of the region. Some vacant houses are rented out as holiday apartments ( gîtes ).
history
Finds made in 1986 prove the existence of a country estate that was already producing wine in Roman times.
The first medieval mention of the place comes from the year 1218. During the Hundred Years War (1337-1453) the vice counts of Turenne had land at the foot of the place.
Because of a nearby brown coal mine , the place was given the nickname les Mines in 1910 ; However, mining was stopped in the 1950s.
