The municipality of Saint-Cyprien with 1561 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) is located on a slope on the right bank of the Dordogne in the Dordogne department of the French Périgord . The origin was an abbey , built over the grave of a hermit called Cyprien, who had withdrawn around 620 in the caves of Fages above the present day town.

The old part of Saint-Cyprien with its narrow streets is dominated by the large church from the 12th century. However, only the keep of the current building is Romanesque, all other parts were later rebuilt in the Gothic style. The nave is spanned by a ribbed vault. The 17th century furnishings include several reredos , the pulpit , the choir stalls , the organ gallery and a wrought iron balustrade . The church building is classified as a monument historique .

La Roque Castle is northeast of the village .
