Sainte-Trie ( Occitan Sent Trian ) is a place and several hamlets (hamlets) existing and farmsteads community with 110 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) to the east of the southern French departments of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine .
location
Sainte-Trie is a good 64 km (driving distance) north of the city of Sarlat-la-Canéda or a good 48 km northeast of Périgueux at an altitude of about 235 m above sea level. d. The climate is temperate and is influenced equally by the Atlantic and the mountains of the Massif Central .

The continuous population decline in the first half of the 20th century is mainly due to the phylloxera crisis in viticulture and the increasing mechanization of agriculture as well as the associated loss of jobs.
economy
For centuries, the residents of the community lived on the produce of their fields and gardens, self-sufficient ; In addition, cattle breeding, a little viticulture and the planting of chestnuts were carried out. Craftsmen, small traders and service providers also settled in the village. Since the 1960s, some of the vacant houses have been used as holiday apartments ( gîtes ) .
history
A church in Sainte-Trie is attested as early as 1047 under the name Ecclesia Sancti Trojani ; the name, feminized over time, refers to St. Trojan of Saintes .
Attractions
- The origin of the parish church of Saint-Trojan dates back to the 12th century; the portal still dates from this time. The other parts were renewed in the centuries that followed. The facade with its two-part bell gable is imposing and reinforced with buttresses . Inside the single-nave church there is a wooden Pietà from the 13th and a stone reclining figure ( gisant ) from the 14th century; the latter has been recognized as a monument historique since 1947 .
- In the municipality, but about five kilometers southeast of Sainte-Trie on the Dalon stream at an altitude of about 185 m above sea level. d. M. are the ruins of the medieval Cistercian - Dalon Abbey .
