It is located in the Périgord countryside around 45 kilometers south-east of Périgueux . Neighboring municipalities are Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère in the north, Sergeac in the east, Tamniès in the southeast, Marquay in the south, Les Eyzies in the southwest and Tursac in the west.

The village of Le Moustier is located on the Vézère River .
