Groléjac is a commune with 654 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Sarlat-la-Canéda and the canton of Vallée Dordogne .
geography
The municipality is located around 60 kilometers southeast of Périgueux and 40 kilometers northwest of Cahors on the south bank of the Dordogne river . It already borders on the neighboring Lot in the Occitania region . Neighboring communities are:
- Carsac-Aillac in the north,
- Veyrignac in the east,
- Saint-Cirq-Madelon in the southeast ( Lot department ),
- Nabirat in the south and
- Domme in the west.
The municipality is bounded in the north by the river Dordogne, only the area around the hamlet of Le Peyron , which is on the right bank of the river, is an exception to the general northern boundary. The district of Le Port with the harbor is located directly on the river . The municipality's capital is around a kilometer from the Dordogne river and is crossed by the Marcillande brook , which flows into the Dordogne and is called Germaine in its estuary . This stream was dammed into a lake in the southern municipal area and a leisure center ( Base de Loisirs du Marais ) was built there.
Transport links
Groléjac is located on the departmental road D704, which leads from Gourdon to Sarlat-la-Canéda and spans the Dordogne with a cable-stayed bridge. The Sarlat-Domme airfield is located in the neighboring municipality of Domme .
