Les Eyzies is a French commune with 1,100 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Sarlat-la-Canéda and the canton of Vallée de l'Homme .
It was created with effect from January 1, 2019 as Commune nouvelle by amalgamating the previously independent municipalities of Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil , Manaurie and Saint-Cirq , which from then on have the status of Communes déléguées . The administrative headquarters are in Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil.

geography
Les Eyzies is located about 36 km southeast of Périgueux and about 17 km northwest of Sarlat-la-Canéda in the Périgord Noir area of the historic province of Périgord .

Les Eyzies is located in the catchment area of the Dordogne river .
The Vézère , one of its tributaries, crosses the territory of the commune along with its tributaries,
- the Ruisseau de Manaurie,
- the Grande Beune and its tributaries,
- the Petite Beune and
- the Beune d'Allas , also called Petite Beune, and
- the Moulinet.
Parish partnership
Les Eyzies has had a partnership with Puente Viesgo in the Autonomous Community of Cantabria in Spain since 1994 through the Commune déléguée Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil .

Three long-distance hiking trails lead through the center of Les Eyzies:
- The GR 6 long-distance hiking trail from Sainte-Foy-la-Grande (Gironde department) to Saint-Paul-sur-Ubaye ( Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department ).
- The GR 36, a long-distance hiking trail from Ouistreham in Normandy to Bourg-Madame in the Eastern Pyrenees .
- The GR 64 connects the long-distance hiking trail GR 36 in Les Eyzies with the long-distance hiking trail GR 6 in Rocamadour in the neighboring Lot department .

Les Eyzies has a stop on line 48 of the TER Nouvelle Aquitaine , a regional train of the national SNCF , which operates the route from Périgueux to Agen .
