Saint-Cirq ( Occitan Sent Circ ) is a former community with 126 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the southeast of the southern French departments of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine in the old cultural landscape of the Périgord . The municipality belonged to the arrondissement of Sarlat-la-Canéda and the canton of Vallée de l'Homme .

The decree of October 17, 2018 established the incorporation of Saint-Cirq as a Commune déléguée together with the former municipalities of Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil and Manaurie into the Commune nouvelle Les Eyzies with effect from January 1, 2019 .

The name in the Occitan language is Sent Circ and is derived from the name of Saints Quiricus and Cyriacus .

The inhabitants are called Saint-Cirquois and Saint-Cirquoises .

Saint-Cirq is located about 46 kilometers east-northeast of Bergerac on the right bank of the Vézère .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 345 in the middle of the 19th century. In the period that followed, a phase of stagnation set in until the 1980s and 1990s, which increased the number of inhabitants to around 105 during short recovery phases before a period of moderate growth set in, which continues to this day.
