Eschelbach an der Ilm is a district of the Wolnzach market in the Upper Bavarian district of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm . The parish village is located in the fertile Tertiary hill country of the Hallertau , the largest contiguous hop growing area in the world.

Parish Church of St. Emmeram

history

The Catholic parish church of St. Emmeram is a plastered saddle roof building with a choir tower and an eastern sacristy and its core dates from the 15th century.

Eschelbach is also an old Hofmarkort . With the Hofmark Pörnbach, the Counts of Törring owned a complex consisting of nine originally independent court brands. The administrative center of the court brands Pörnbach, Euernbach , Göbelsbach , Tegernbach , Ritterswörth , Burgstall , Eschelbach, Förnbach and Puch, which had been the patrimonial courts of the Counts of Törring-Jettenbach since 1819/20 , was in Pörnbach. Patrimonial jurisdiction was abolished in the revolution of 1848 .

In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria in 1818, Eschelbach an der Ilm became an independent political municipality with the suburbs of Beigelshaben, Bratzhof and Bratzmühle. On January 1st, 1978 Eschelbach an der Ilm was incorporated into the Wolnzach community. The monastery Eschelbach was founded in 1853 and stood since 1924 under the administration of the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco. It was demolished in 2019.

Eschelbach is located directly at the Holledau motorway triangle . If, according to the original plan, the A93 , which now joins the A9 , had been built further west, this would have taken place on the outskirts of Eschelbach.
