history

Around 1100, Heinrich and Eckehard de Werde, who were also known as the wealthy family of Hofers in Regensburg , had Ministeriale der Schyren build a castle that was part of the closed Hofmark Ritterswörth and belonged to the Pfaffenhofen district court . From 1424 on, the Seyboltstorffer family of knights from Ritterswörth had their home here. After the death of Hans Clement von Seyboltstorf in 1635, the Hofmark was encumbered with 22,000 florins and was bought by Wolf Dietrich Graf von Toerring in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm on September 10, 1647 . Despite the ownership, the castle was left to decay. With the Hofmark Pörnbach, the Toerring owned a complex consisting of nine originally independent court brands. The administrative center of the court brands Pörnbach, Euernbach , Göbelsbach, Tegernbach , Ritterswörth, Burgstall , Eschelbach , Förnbach and Puch, which had been the patrimonial courts of the Counts of Törring-Jettenbach since 1819/20 , was in Pörnbach. Patrimonial jurisdiction was abolished in the revolution of 1848 .

From 1885 the Bavarian Horse Breeding Association was the castle owner.

A labor camp was set up in Ritterswörth during the Second World War

It was incorporated into the city of Geisenfeld in 1978.

Today Ritterswörth is the seat of the Ritterswörth foal farm, breeder of the Holledau horse breeding cooperative .
