Ainau has been part of the town of Geisenfeld in Hallertau since 1978 . Previously it was affiliated with the previously independent municipality of Zell .

geography

Ainau is located about two kilometers south of the town center of Geisenfeld in the Upper Bavarian district of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm . Due to the growing together of the places in the direct vicinity of Geisenfeld, one can no longer recognize the borders of Ainau today.

The entire southern area of ​​Zell is often referred to as Ainau, with the original Ainau only roughly in the area of ​​today's Dekan-Trost-Straße.

history

Ainau was first mentioned around the year 820, the then owner called himself Agino. In 1036 the exiled Duke Adalbero lived here with his family. He built a small castle, of which only the church remains today. Today it serves as a parish church and is dedicated to St. Ulrich.

The municipality of Zell was incorporated into the city of Geisenfeld on January 1, 1978.

The citizens of Ainau still have the right to be buried in the Ainau cemetery and not in the central cemetery of Geisenfeld.
