Geroldshausen is a district of the Wolnzach market in the Upper Bavarian district of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm . Five kilometers south of Wolnzach and three kilometers east of the motorway service station "In der Holledau" is the place in the hills of the Hallertau .

history

Geroldshausen was first mentioned in 1138 as the seat of a noble family called Geroltishusen . At the site of today's “Kammelhof” traces of fortifications can still be found, which are attributed to the manor of the progenitor Gerold or Kerolt. The gender of the Geroltishusener can be proven up to 1500.

Geroldshausen was subsequently the seat of an office of the Bavarian district court Pfaffenhofen . The manor developed into a farming village with two parishes, namely Ober- and Niedergeroldshausen. In the meantime, the place was even divided into Ober-, Nieder- and Mittergeroldshausen. In 1790 the parishes were united and over the years the places grew together to form a single place Geroldshausen.

On January 1, 1978, the municipality of Geroldshausen in Hallertau , founded with the Bavarian municipal edict of 1818, was incorporated into Markt Wolnzach with the towns of Abeltshausen, Gschwend and Kreut . With about 800 inhabitants, Geroldshausen is the largest district of Wolnzach.

Church and Parish

The first church is attested in 1310 in "Geroltzhausen". Nieder- and Obergeroldshausen appear for the first time by name in 1326 as two independent parishes. The first pastor, however, appears in the books in 1410.

The Geroldshausen parish is now part of the Geisenfeld deanery and the Regensburg diocese .

  • Church of Saint Martin: It is also popularly called "the new church". It stands next to the rectory in Mittergeroldshausen. It was built in 1877 and 1878. It can accommodate 340 worshipers. St. Martin has four altars, three bells and an organ. "The new church" was actually built incorrectly, as the tower faces south and the entrance faces north. This is attributed to the fact that before the construction of “Sankt Martin”, the “Stiglmeier” farm stood on the place where today's church and the associated grotto are located. The predecessor church of St. Martin was on the other side of the street, where the old cemetery is today.
  • Church of St. Andreas: Known as "the old church" or "the Untergeroldshaus'ner church", it is still used sporadically today. Framed by a small cemetery, this church is considered the older of the two churches in Geroldshausen. It is in the former Niedergeroldshausen. Particularly noteworthy is the old, still functional organ, whose air is still provided mechanically. With a pedal and muscle power, a large bellows located behind the organ is operated. The bells are also made to ring by hand.

Waters

  • Geisenhausener Bach
The Geißgraben rises around wooden houses about four kilometers south of Geroldshausen as the crow flies. This becomes the Preinerszeller Bach south of Preinerszell . In Geisenhausen it joins the Hallerbach and flows on as Geisenhausen Bach. After Geroldshausen it flows into the town via Geisenhausen from a south-westerly direction.
  • Asbach
The Asbach, which rises in Dürnzhausen, also comes from the south. On the way it briefly becomes Geroldsbach and then merges with the Gschwender Bächlein again to form Asbach. It flows into the place from the south-east.
  • Wolnzach
In Geroldshausen, the Asbach and Geisenhausener Bach merge to form the Wolnzach, which then flows further north to Wolnzach together with a tributary.
