Location of the arrondissement of Mont-de-Marsan in the Landes department

The arrondissement of Mont-de-Marsan is an administrative district in the Landes department in the French region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine .

history

On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Landes department, a "Mont-de-Marsan district" was founded, which corresponded in parts to the present-day arrondissement. On February 17, 1800, the arrondissement was founded from it.

With the dissolution of the Arrondissement Saint-Sever on September 10, 1926, four cantons were added to the Arrondissement Mont-de-Marsan.

The arrondissement borders in the north with the arrondissements of Bordeaux and Langon in the Gironde department , in the east with the arrondissement Nérac in the department Lot-et-Garonne , in the southeast with the arrondissements Condom and Mirande in the department Gers ( Occitania ), in the south with the arrondissement Pau in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department , in the west to the Arrondissement Dax and in the north-west to the Bay of Biscay .
