history
Several burial mounds in the municipality show an early settlement of the area. In 1975 a warehouse was discovered where roof tiles , fragments of an amphora and a millstone were found. At the end of the 13th century, the village was given a bastide typical of the region . The local archives reveal livestock as the primary economic activity of the village, as well as the names of the families who directed the fortunes, such as the Talassac, the landlords of Bahus. In 1861 part of the former Damoulens community was transferred to the Bahus-Soubiran community.
Bahus-Soubiran owned a train station on the railway line of the Compagnie des Tramways à Vapeur de la Chalosse et du Béarn , which connected Aire-sur-l'Adour with Amou and opened in 1909. In the 1930s, first the transport of people, later the freight traffic, was stopped due to a lack of economic efficiency.
Population development
After a peak in the number of inhabitants of around 585 in the middle of the 19th century, the number fell to around 300 after several short recovery phases by the turn of the millennium, before the size of the community increased significantly since then.
