geography
The municipality is located in the Landes de Gascogne forests . The Midouze limits Saint-Pierre-du-Mont to the north. The municipality is surrounded by Mont-de-Marsan in the north and east, Bretagne-de-Marsan in the south-east, Benquet in the south, Saint-Perdon in the west and Campet-et-Lamolère in the north-west.
Saint-Pierre-du-Mont is located on Via Lemovicensis , one of the four historical " Routes of the St. James pilgrims in France ".
history
Between 1133 and 1140, Pierre de Laubaner, Viscount of Marsan and Count of Bigorre, had a castle built in the south of Mont-de-Marsan. But a chapel already existed here in the 11th century and the Romanesque church was also built in this period. Archaeological finds also show that people settled here both in the Bronze Age and in the period between the 5th and 6th centuries.
