Mauries is a French municipality with 90 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of land in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Mont-de-Marsan and the canton of Chalosse Tursan (until 2015: canton of Geaune ).
The inhabitants are called Mauricois and Mauricoises .

Mauries is located approx. 35 km southeast of Mont-de-Marsan in the Tursan region of the historic province of Gascony on the southern edge of the department.

Mauries lies in the catchment area of the Adour River .
The Bahus , a tributary of the Adour, and the Bas , a tributary of the Gabas , cross the territory of the municipality.
history
Population development
After the records began, the population rose to an initial high of 315 by the middle of the 19th century, and twenty years later to another high of around 315. In the following period, the size of the community decreased to around the 1990s with brief recovery phases 60 inhabitants before a moderate growth phase began, which continues to this day.

Attractions
Parish Church of Saint-Laurent
The current church is a new building from 1910 as a replacement for the former Romanesque parish church, which was located about a kilometer away. Building materials and the 13th century entrances were reused. The single nave nave is extended by a semicircular choir , which is flanked on its south side by a sacristy . A bell gable is interrupted by two round arches for the bells. The entrance in Romanesque style is worked out with a round arch. The windows of the nave are also arched and alternate with the buttresses on the outside .

A circular route with a length of 11.3 km leads from the center of Mauries through the area of the municipality u. a. through the valley of the Bahus and the forest of Maumesson.
