Ychoux is a French commune with 2,281 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Landes department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the arrondissement of Mont-de-Marsan and the canton of Grands Lacs . The residents call themselves Cachenais . Ychoux is a member of the Grands Lacs community association .

Ychoux is located in the Pays de Born landscape in the vast Landes de Gascogne , the largest forest area in Western Europe, about 80 kilometers south of Bordeaux . The neighboring communities are

The districts of Bertrand, Malet and Mothes belong to Ychoux . The 111.28 km² large municipal area on the edge of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park consists largely of pine forest. Several forest streams run through the municipality, some of which are connected by drainage ditches. The gradient west to the Atlantic is very small. Ultimately, all precipitation reaches the Étang de Biscarrosse et de Parentis via the Ruisseau des Forges or via the Canal de l'Arreillet into the Étang de Cazaux et de Sanguinet . These two large lakes are cut off from the Atlantic by high dunes and drain through the Landes Canal to the Bassin d'Arcachon .

Ychoux is on the trunk road from Parentis-en-Born to Pissos (D 43), which also functions as a feeder road for the A63 autoroute . Ychoux station is on the Bordeaux – Irun railway line .

  • Notre-Dame Church: rebuilt in 1872 with remains of the Romanesque style and a tympanum above the portal with the themes of the Assumption and St. Michael slaying the dragon
