Numerous other members of the family have distinguished themselves in their long history primarily through military service. This also applies to the occurrence during the Hundred Years War . The ruling Castelnau fought with the French troops in front of Bergerac in 1344 , but when Charles V and Olivier Du Guesclin attacked the English from 1368-1369, he fought on the English side.

After records began, the population rose to a high of 600 by the first half of the 19th century. As a result, the size of the community decreased with short recovery phases to around 180 inhabitants by the beginning of the 21st century, before a moderate growth phase began.
