history

The community was created on March 4, 1875 by separating the districts of Boulin and Bahus Jusanx from the neighboring community of Montgaillard. On November 19, 1904, the district of Lanneplan from the neighboring municipality of Saint-Sever was added.

Workshops for the production of stone stretched from today's Eyres-Moncube to Montgaillard and document the settlement of the area in prehistory . Traces of several eras, in particular from the Magdalenian , were found in the Montsoué area and are now exhibited in the museum in Mont-de-Marsan. In the Middle Ages , Montsoué belonged to the powerful Seigneurie of Montgaillard, which extended to Larrivière and Fargues. The village was not spared from the Huguenot Wars , during which the Church of Boulin was looted by Protestant troops in 1569 .

Population development

When the community was founded, its size reached an initial high of around 750. In the following period, the number of residents fell until the Lanneplan district was incorporated, when the same high was reached again. From then on, the size of the community sank again with short recovery phases until the 1980s to around 460 inhabitants, before a moderate growth phase set in, which continues to this day.
