history
The parish preserves a column shaft from the Gallo-Roman period, which today bears the holy water font of the parish church. In 988, Duke Wilhelm II of Gascony left his mark on Bostens. He was anxious to enlarge and pacify his dominion and therefore founded around a dozen abbeys , economic and cultural centers. At the same time he donated the parish church to the Saint-Sever Abbey , with whose history the parish remained connected until the French Revolution . In the Middle Ages , Bostens benefited from its location as an important stage on the Via Lemovicensis , one of the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela .
Population development
After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 330 in the middle of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community decreased to 100 inhabitants with brief recovery phases until the 1980s, before a phase of growth began that continues to this day .

They probably originally consisted of a nave with a barrel vault , in the East by a flat apse was extended. In front of the nave, the bell tower rose to the west . A century after its construction, a second apse was added on its south side, which served as a sacristy . The largest expansion took place in the 17th century, when the nave was extended to the west by a new yoke , to which a closed, spacious vestibule was added.
