The Society for Magnesium Research eV is a scientific society founded in 1977 with the participation of Hans-Georg Classen (University of Hohenheim) and Joachim Helbig (Tutzing), which takes on the mineral magnesium and its research in a special way. It organizes scientific symposia, publishes recommendations on various clinical pictures associated with magnesium deficiency (e.g. diabetes mellitus , ADHD , cardiac arrhythmias ) and tries to promote the scientific exchange of ideas and to bring the preventive and therapeutic benefits of magnesium closer to the specialist community.

structure

The Society for Magnesium Research eV was founded in 1977 in Stuttgart. It brings together all persons within the 'Société Pour Le Développement Des Recherches Sur Le Magnésium' (SDRM) in German-speaking countries who are interested in magnesium research. In order to enable colleagues from the GDR to participate and collaborate, the term 'German' in the title of the company was dispensed with for political reasons. The society organizes scientific symposia on magnesium-related topics in chemistry / biochemistry, biology, genetics, soil, plants, animal and human nutrition, practice and clinic. As part of the SDRM, the 3rd International Magnesium Symposium was held in Baden-Baden in 1981 and the 4th European Magnesium Symposium in Giessen in 1992.

According to the statutes, the society is managed by a board of directors, consisting of the president, the vice-president and the secretary / treasurer.

Board

  • President: Oliver Micke
  • Vice President: Klaus Kisters
  • Secretary / Treasurer: Anton Kraus

All natural and legal persons who are ready to support the purpose of the association can become members. The board of directors or - in the case of rejection by the board of directors - the general meeting decides on admission.

Goals and main tasks

The company pursues the following essential goals:

  • Promotion of research on the mineral magnesium
  • Promoting communication between scientists from the fields of basic research, clinical research and general practitioners
  • Promotion of the scientific exchange of ideas on the mineral magnesium

Scientific events are held regularly to achieve these goals. The Society for Magnesium Research eV meets annually for a scientific conference, usually in the form of a 3-country conference (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). Since 1979 the Society for Magnesium Research eV published the Magnesium Bulletin, the first magnesium-centered scientific journal. Today the official publication is the journal 'trace elements and electrolytes' .
