The steady decline in population since the middle of the 19th century is due to the mechanization of agriculture and the abandonment of smaller farms. The community has experienced a renewed population surge since the 1970s.

economy

Agriculture and forestry have always been the livelihoods of the population. Small traders, craftsmen and service providers of all kinds have settled in the village.

history

The history of the place goes back to the Gallo-Roman times. Today's church was built in the 11th century. Before and during the Hundred Years War (1337-1453), the area belonged to the Duchy of Aquitaine , which fell to the House of Anjou through the marriage of Eleanor of Aquitaine to Heinrich Plantagenet (1152) , which in 1154 took over the English crown. It was not until the Battle of Castillon (1453) that Gascony became part of the French crown .

Attractions

The one-ship Église Saint-Avit is dedicated to St. Consecrated Bishop Avitus von Vienne (around 460-518); it was built from the 11th to the 15th century. One of the last construction measures was to raise the tower by a fortified floor. The building has been classified as a Monument historique since 1996 .
