Latrille is a French municipality with 156 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of land in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Mont-de-Marsan and the canton of Adour Armagnac (until 2015: canton of Aire-sur-l'Adour ).

The name is Latrilha in the Gascognischen language . It is derived from Latreille , which in the Middle Ages referred to a vine arbor or an orchard.

The inhabitants are called Latrillois and Latrilloises .

Latrille is located approx. 35 km southeast of Mont-de-Marsan not far from Aire-sur-l'Adour in the historic province of Gascony on the southeast border to the neighboring Gers department .

Hydrology

Latrille lies in the catchment area of ​​the Adour River .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a high of around 305 by the middle of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell to 170 inhabitants during recovery phases until the 1930s, before a slight phase of growth began until the turn of the millennium. Since then, the number of residents has fallen sharply.

Parish Church of Notre-Dame

The church was built in the 16th century. Your nave contains a main nave , which is connected to a side aisle and which is extended with a semicircular choir . The aisle is shorter than the main nave and the sacristy is located in the niche between the aisle and the apse . The windows are designed in a round arch shape. A triangular bell gable rises to the west with two recesses for the bells.

The Autoroute A65 , called Autoroute de Gascogne , crosses the municipality, but without a direct exit to the village. The next exit 7 is about 6 km from the center of Latrille.
