Ségos ( Gascon : SEGOS ) is a French municipality with 229 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Okzitanien ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mirande and to the community association Communauté de communes d'Aire-sur-l'Adour .
geography
Ségos is the westernmost municipality in the Gers department. It is located around eight kilometers south of the small town of Aire-sur-l'Adour in the far west of the Gers department. It belongs to the Tursan wine region . The most important bodies of water are the Broussau and Lées rivers , the Lesté stream and the Lac de Latrille reservoir (also Lac de Ségos). The most important supra-regional transport connection is the A65 autoroute (part of Europastraße 7 ), a few kilometers west of the municipality . The nearest train station is in Aire-sur-l'Adour.
Ségos is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Aire-sur-l'Adour in the north-west, Lannux in the north-east, Projan in the east and south-east, Saint-Agnet in the south and south-west and Latrille in the west.
history
The feudal lordship of Ségo is mentioned for the first time on October 28, 1367 in a document about a land exchange between the dukes of Corneillan and Armagnac. In 1852, part of the dissolving municipality of Villères joined the municipality of Ségos.

economy
Agriculture traditionally provides most of the jobs in the community. In addition to viticulture, tobacco and maize cultivation as well as animal husbandry (cattle breeding) are the most important branches of business.
