Sadeillan ( Gascon : Sadelhan) is a French municipality with 87 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Occitania (2015 Midi-Pyrénées ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Mirande and the municipality of Astarac Arros en Gascogne . The residents call themselves Sadeillannais / Sadeillannaises .
geography
Sadeillan is located around 14 kilometers southwest of Mirande and 28 kilometers northeast of Tarbes in the south of the Gers department. The community consists of hamlets, numerous scattered settlements and individual farmsteads. The Osse crosses the municipality in a northerly direction and in parts forms the western municipality boundary.
Neighboring communities are Sainte-Dode in the north, Mont-de-Marrast in the east and south-east, Sarraguzan in the south, Castex in the south-west and Miélan in the west and north-west.
history
In the Middle Ages, the community was in the Kastlanei Moncassin of the county of Astarac in the historic Gascon region and shared its fate. Sadeillan belonged to the Mirande district from 1793 to 1801. The municipality has been part of the Mirande arrondissement since 1801 and belonged to the Miélan canton from 1793 to 2015 .
Population development
The population development is typical for a French rural community. Developments between 1793 and 1861 with strong growth and the wave of emigration that continued until 2006 are normal. In recent years the population has grown again.
