Margouët-Meymes ( Gascon : Margoèt e Mèimers ) is a French municipality with 176 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Okzitanien ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mirande .
geography
Margouët-Meymes is about 40 kilometers (as the crow flies) west-northwest of the city. Also in the west of the Gers department and belongs to the Côtes de Saint-Mont wine-growing region and the Armagnac brandy region . Numerous bodies of water originate or cross the municipal area. Most important is the Douze river . There are also several dams in the municipal area. Route Nationale 124 passes a few kilometers north of the municipality . The closest bus stop is Dému on line 934 Auch - Mont-de-Marsan.
Margouët-Meymes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Séailles in the north, Dému in the northeast, Castillon-Debats in the east, Lupiac in the southeast, Aignan in the south and west and Avéron-Bergelle in the northwest.
history
The municipality is historically located within Gascony and belongs to the Bas-Armagnac region . From 1793 to 1801 Margouët-Meymes was part of the Nogaro district. Also from 1793 to 1801 to the canton of Lupiac. After that she was assigned to the canton of Aignan until 2015 . The community changed names several times between 1790 and 1801. First it was called Montagne-la-Douze , then Meymes and has only had its current name since 1801.
