Dému ( Gascon : Dému ) is a French municipality with 337 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Gers in the region Okzitanien ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Condom and the community association Communauté de communes du Grand-Armagnac .

geography

Dému is about 36 kilometers west-northwest of the small town. Also in the north-west of the Gers department and belongs to the Côtes de Saint-Mont wine-growing region and the Armagnac brandy region .

The community includes the Dému settlement and numerous hamlets and farmhouses.

history

Both the place and the castle have existed since the 11th century at the latest. During the Huguenot Wars, Dému was looted and destroyed. With the exception of the steeple, the village church is destroyed. Historically, Dému belongs to the Comté de (Vic-) Fezensac region within Gascony. The place belonged from 1793 to 1801 to the District Condom. Also from 1793 to 1801 to the canton of Lannepax and 1801 to 2015 to the canton of Eauze .
