Castle of Terraub

Terrauba ( Gaskognisch Terrauba ) is a French commune with 372 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Condom and the municipality association Lomagne Gersoise . Its inhabitants call themselves Terraubois / Terrauboises .

geography

Terraub is located around 29 kilometers north of the city Auch in the north of the Gers department. The community consists of the village of Terraub and numerous individual farms. In terms of traffic, the community is located on the D42 away from major long-distance traffic routes.

history

The place is in Lomagne , which was a vice-county in the Middle Ages. The De Galard family managed the place for centuries. They are still the castle owners today. The community belonged to the District Lectoure from 1793 to 1801. In addition, Marsolan was within the canton of Lectoure from 1793 to 2015 . The parish was assigned to the Arrondissement of Lectoure from 1801 to 1926. This was dissolved in 1926 and the municipality part of the Condom arrondissement.
