Gimbrède ( Gaskognisch Gimbreda ) is a French commune with 283 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Condom and the municipality association Lomagne Gersoise . Its inhabitants call themselves Gimbrédois / Gimbrédoises .

geography

Gimbrède is located on a slope around 45 kilometers north-northeast of the city Auch in the very north of the Gers department. The community consists of the village of Gimbrède, several hamlets and numerous individual farms. In terms of traffic, the community is located on the D561 several kilometers south of the A62 .

history

The place is in the Brulhois , which was a vice-county in the Middle Ages. The parishes belonged to the District Lectoure from 1793 to 1801. In addition, Gimbrède and Rouillac were within the canton of Miradoux from 1793 to 2015 . The parish was assigned to the Arrondissement of Lectoure from 1801 to 1926. This was dissolved in 1926 and the municipality part of the Condom arrondissement. In 1823 the previously independent municipality of Rouillac (also Rouilhac; 1821: 188 inhabitants) was incorporated.
