Béraut ( Gaskognisch Beraut ) is a French commune with 331 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Condom and the municipality of Ténarèze . Its inhabitants call themselves Bérautois / Bérautoises .
geography
Béraut is located on a slope on the right bank of the Gèle around 33 kilometers northwest of the city Auch in the north of the Gers department. The municipality consists of the village of Béraut, the hamlets of Armagnac , La Courtade , La Guinle , Le Camus , Le Clot and Mival as well as numerous individual farms. In terms of traffic, the community is located on the D654 a few kilometers east of the RD930 .
history
In the Middle Ages, the place was within the county of Condomois (also called Ténarèze), which was part of the province of Gascogne. The community belonged to the District Condom from 1793 to 1801. In addition, with the exception of the years 1801 to 1806, Béraut was part of the canton of Condom from 1793 to 2015 . The parish has been assigned to the Condom arrondissement since 1801.
