Ramouzens ( Gaskognisch : Hramosens ) is a French commune with 163 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitania region ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Condom and the community association Communauté de communes du Grand-Armagnac .
geography
Ramouzens is located around 37 kilometers west-northwest of the small town. Also in the northwest of the Gers department and belongs to the Armagnac brandy area .
The community includes the Ramouzens settlement and numerous farms.
history
After the phylloxera crisis that destroyed the vineyards, many people moved away in the 19th century. Ramouzens historically belongs to the Comté de (Vic-) Fezensac region within Gascony. The place belonged to the District Condom from 1793 to 1801 and from 1793 to 2015 to the canton of Eauze . In 1832 the previously independent municipality of Ile-Bascons (1831: 131 inhabitants) was incorporated.
