Cézan is a French commune with 223 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Condom and the canton of Fleurance-Lomagne (until 2015: canton of Fleurance ).

The inhabitants are called Cézanais and Cézanaises .

Cézan is about 19 kilometers southeast of Condom in the historic province of Armagnac .

Cézan lies in the catchment area of the Garonne River .

Tributaries of the Ruisseau de Lahontan cross the territory of the municipality:

  • the Coulègne with its tributaries,
    • the Ruisseau Biote and
    • the pontic which rises in Cézan, and
  • the Ruisseau de Masca.

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a high of around 590 in the first half of the 19th century. In the period that followed, the size of the community sank to its lowest level of 150 inhabitants until the turn of the millennium, with temporary recovery phases, before a phase of growth began continues to this day.

Attractions

  • Sainte-Eulalie parish church from the 16th century, rebuilt in 1879, with a bell tower and a ribbed vault made of brick. It contains two chasubles from the second half of the 18th century, which have been inscribed as Monument historique of the objects since January 29, 2001 .
