history
Manciet belonged to the county of Armagnac . A castle was built here at a strategically important location, which was eventually taken over by the Knightly Order of Santiago . The village was destroyed during the Wars of Religion , but was later rebuilt. The Protestant occupation fortified the parish church of Manciet and resisted all attacks here. It was not until 1624, 26 years after the wars of religion had ended, that the resulting fortress was demolished.
