history

The earliest mention of Nasbinals goes back to the 8th century. In 1074, monks from the monastery of Saint-Victor de Marseille built a Romanesque priory church in the Auvergne style and consecrated it to the Virgin Mary . economy

Nasbinals is the commercial center of the Aubrac. In the past, the inhabitants lived as self-sufficient farmers from sheep and cattle breeding or from dairy products (e.g. Cantal cheese) and from the income from small barley fields and gardens protected from the wind . In the 19th century the importance of breeding Aubrac cattle , which can be kept outdoors all year round, increased more and more. In the second half of the 20th century, tourism was added as a source of income in the form of renting holiday apartments ( gîtes ).
