Rimeize is a French commune with 585 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Lozère department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Mende and the canton of Saint-Chély-d'Apcher .
geography
The municipality is located in the Aubrac countryside , around 30 kilometers northwest of the arrondissement capital of Mende . Neighboring municipalities are: Prunières in the north, Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole in the northeast, Fontans in the southeast, Peyre en Aubrac with Aumont-Aubrac in the southwest, Les Bessons in the west and Saint-Chély-d'Apcher in the northwest.
The municipality is crossed by the river Rimeize and its tributary Chapouillet . The Truyère River runs along the eastern municipal boundary .
Transport links
The département road D806, which leads from Mende to Saint-Chély-d'Apcher, crosses the commune from southeast to northwest. The A75 motorway , the parallel departmental road D809 and the railway line from Béziers to Clermont-Ferrand run along the western municipal boundary .
