Le château de Castanet on the banks of Lac de Villefort

Pourcharesses is a French commune in the department of Lozère in the region Occitania . It is about 600 meters above sea level and has 120 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).

It is located in the southern Massif Central in the Cevennes region on the banks of the Lac de Villefort reservoir . The highest mountain in the Cevennes, Mont Lozère , is about 25 km southwest of the municipality.

Attractions

The 16th century Château de Castanet is located on the former banks of the Altier .
