The Lac de Villefort is a reservoir of the river Altier in the French region of Languedoc-Roussillon. It is located in the Cevennes about 40 km east of Mende . The village of Villefort is just south of the lake.
The lake is primarily used to generate electricity . It is also a popular recreational area today. The Cevennes Railway crosses the lake.
